La Mama Public Show in May

In a Playback show, stories from the audience are brought to life by skilled improvisers. As each unique performance develops, connections and themes grow. Playback theatre can be funny or moving.

“Fascinating…a narrative for our times”

Vivian Langford 3CR  (Creating a Climate for Change, August 2016)

“Not your usual black box theatre experience, but if the standing ovation at the end of this provocative performance is anything to go by…an incredibly rewarding one.” Theatrepeople (SticksnStones, May 2016)

From Little Things

The stories that stay with us can begin from the smallest seed, the briefest moment. Through Playback theatre, stories will be shared of the little things in our lives – and the bigger things that sometimes grow from them.

All ages event. Kids welcome. Adults without kids welcome too.

What’s worth struggling for? What has taken your efforts to find, protect or relinquish? Personal stories about things of value and the struggles they inspire.

Melbourne Playback Theatre Company is one of Australia’s most acclaimed improvisation ensembles, amazing audiences with their ability to work as if with one mind and get beneath the surface of every story. Performances interweave theatre with music performed live on stage.
